We’ll share little white lies about the one that got away and our score on the back nine at the local park.

Life isn’t about where we end up as much as it is how we get there. It’s a highway we’ve never been on before and spend most of the drive with a thousand yard stare, missing the scenery just on our left and the right. It’s only when we find the bumps, the hazards and the reconstruction lanes when we have to assess what we’re doing and we wake up to the more important things going on around us.

We’ve all been there; that road. Something happens and as much as we try to hit the brakes we can’t make it stop, and the steering is fading. We hold onto hope like flowers clinging to rocky ground, bare and fragile. We tell ourselves we can walk on but the directions spring from dark places.

It makes us all survivors. It makes us all able to celebrate life just that much more richly. It inspires the next person on a similar road.
